THE GREEN HOTEL | PORTUGAL

The project: Hotel room | Interior Design

Date: 2024

Local: Lisbon, Portugal

Concept.

Project developed as part of the Postgraduate Program in Interior Architecture.

Located between Avenida Fontes Pereira de Melo and Avenida Augusto Aguiar, this hotel room is inspired by the nearby gardens, with the Gulbenkian Foundation serving as the main reference. The colors, textures, and sensations drawn from these green spaces were integrated to create a harmonious environment deeply connected to nature.

The concept of biophilia is subtly incorporated through natural materials, organic forms, and visual connections. The original layout was preserved, with strategic interventions to enhance spatial flow and user experience. The bathroom was redesigned to improve communication with the room while maintaining privacy. The sleeping area is defined by a custom-designed counter that subtly divides the space without closing it off. Inspired by the Gulbenkian’s water ponds, the bed base is covered with mirrors, reflecting the surrounding greenery through the textiles. This natural ambiance is further reinforced by the wooden elements that envelop the space, strengthening the connection with nature.

On the living area wall, a sculpted plaster composition adds texture and depth, evoking natural elements. The result is a refined, serene space seamlessly integrated with its surroundings
